There is no charge to join, but the annual subscription for being a member (a Freeman) of the Company is £275. If you currently work for a corporate member of the City of London Law Society, you are exempt from this fee (while you remain at a member firm).
When you proceed to take the Livery of the Company, there is a one-off fee of £500, which pays for your Livery Medal and your first Livery Dinner, and the annual fee is £275.
If you wish to apply to become a Freeman of the Company, use the on-line application form on this website.
If you don't know existing members who can support your application, contact the Company (mail@citysolicitors.org.uk or Tel 020 7329 2173) for assistance.
The City of London Solicitors' Company boundary is one mile from each corner of the Bank of England and at Canary Wharf. Please contact the Company Office if you need further clarification.
More information about obtaining the Freedom of the City of London can be found on our Join Us page.
Applying to become a Freeman is the first level of membership of the Company. All Freemen then have the option of taking or applying for the Livery of the Company, which is the second level of membership. More information about the Livery can be found on the Join Us page. Any Freeman wishing to take the Livery must first become a Freeman of the City of London by redemption through Guildhall.
