Clare Wilson progressed to Steward in June 2026.

Clare is the General Counsel of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer and has been a partner in the firm since 1997.

She manages a team based in London and Australia constituting a global team who work together to support all of the firms offices in 23 jurisdictions; advises the global firm on risk and regulatory issues and its liabilities to clients and others; and is involved in seeking to mitigate the risks of professional negligence.

She is the Firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice ( COLP), an SRA regulated position .

She leads the firm’s data privacy programme, working across disciplines and jurisdictions.

She is a member of the City of London Law Society Professional Rules and Regulation Committee (previously Chair) and an elected member of the Council of the Law Society of England and Wales and Chair of the Scrutiny and Performance Committee.
