The History Society presents……..The Bloody History of Smithfield: a guided walk
Book here to Join Lianne, a Freeman of the Company and a qualified City Guide, to discover the history behind one of the oldest parts of the City of London.
Hear tales of the monastery and fair that once dominated Smithfield, and uncover its darker side: the death of Wat Tyler in the Peasant’s Revolt; the execution of William Wallace and many others; the burnings at the stake of the Marian Martyrs, body snatchers, plague pits and the crime-ridden slums of Victorian London.
