Connecting with Inner Temple

Livery Dinner – Connecting with the Inner Temple

For our Livery Dinner this year, we are returning to the historic surroundings of the Inns of Court and to the Hall of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.

There has been a hall on this site since the twelfth century; the present elegant and impressive oak-paneled hall was built in Georgian style to replace that destroyed by enemy action in 1940.

We last visited Inner Temple as a Company in 2016, when Past Master Nick Hughes organised a trip for us to see And London Burned (a new opera commissioned to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire) and to join the gala dinner afterwards.

Our Livery Dinner in 2025 is (unusually) to be a joint event with the Inner Temple, uniting the two parts of the legal profession, and connecting the Livery members of the Company with the barristers and judges of the Inner Temple, the Treasurer (head) of which this year just happens to be the Master’s husband. Book here.

Cost £120 including VAT
Please book your place by Monday 10th November 2025. Refunds will not be issued after this date.

You are also invited to attend Evensong in the Temple Church from 6 – 6.45 at no additional cost.

Choral Evensong is a sung service of Evening Prayer in the Anglican tradition. Derived from the older Roman Catholic service of Vespers. Primarily known for its rich musical and liturgical elements, the defining feature of Choral Evensong is the presence of a choir that sings the majority of the service, performing settings of prayers, psalms, and canticles, along with hymns and an anthem. While there may be congregational hymns, the focus is on the choir’s performance.

The serviceincludes responses, psalms, canticles (Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis), readings, prayers and offers a contemplative and reflective experience, often described as a beautiful blend of music, prayer, and tradition.
